L'etoile Cafe @ 160 Owen Road

Hey there hello! It has been our 3^rd time or the 4^th time we have been here and from time to time this cafe never fails to bring a smile to our faces, so yes we have decided to do a review on this awesome café. L'etoile Café!

To get to this café you can alight at the nearby MRT, Farrer Park. From there you would have to walk approximately 5-10min on a straight path and then a left turn. After doing so, TADAAAAAA, you can see this 2 level café from a distance J

When you step in you will be exposed to the lovely interior of this café. Trust me it’s a real lovely café J So here’s the food we bought! :D

(Toast with Egg Benedict)

I have to say though, their toast is really tasty. Even though it’s just toast with some eggs on the side and some weirdo sauce spread all over it is really simple yet tasty! :D

Oh and don’t forget to try their fries and crepes! It’s really worth the money, ok maybe not so but 8 Bucks for this amount of fries, and 6 bucks for crepes this tasty? I find it kind of a lucky strike as compared to the other cafes :D

And while you’re eating or drinking you can just admire the lovely interior of this café J

It gets really crowded on the weekends especially during lunch time, but on other days it is kind of empty and if you’re lucky enough, you might be able to get some seats on the 2^nd level!

*And not to forget we invited a few friends over to check this café out as well so these was what they had to say

Khairy: The cafe has a lovely ambiance and view. Their food and drinks were ravishing especially their fries.
I also like how their cafe combined a modern and old theme!

Qayyum: The place is really nice and classy but if you're low on budget this cafe might be a little problem.

Johan: It was my first time being in a place like this,all I can say is, that it was nice and it's a quiet place for relaxing.

Personally we had a splendid time having lunch here while catching up. I would recommend this cafe for families as well as the ambiance here is really comfy and nice. Not forgetting their food of course.

Daily Scoop @ Jalan Merah Saga

Hello there, fellow Café Hoppers!

We sincerely apologize for not being active in handling this blog. However, we have a perfect valid reason for this. *teehee!* Well, our examinations are around the corner – yes, examinations… AGAIN! So do bear with us and continue looking out for new updates through our Twitter or Facebook profile. Alright Mate, back to business! A

Let's start off with today's main question. 

'Who doesn't like waffles with ice cream?' 

Certainly not me! Thus, for today's post, i will be introducing to you my favorite ice cream shop. 

THE DAILY SCOOP

The Daily Scoop creates all sorts of flavors, they have 40 flavors and counting! However, not all 40 flavors are in store at one shot. Therefore, if you have a flavor in mind, don't hesitate to inform the friendly staffs there about it! 

                                                                                                              

Not much of a sweet-tooth and looking for something sour to savor on?

You will definitely love the LEMON SHERBET like I do! You could also ask for waffles along with it, its rather cheap despite its appearance. It just costs around 6++ with two flavours of ice cream! :)

Well, this is just me trying not to ruin the smooth surface of my ice cream. Eventually and NOT surprisingly, it still ends up in my tummy. Hmmmmmmm....

Not only they have a wide range of ice creams, coffee,smoothies and waffles are also available here!
(Sorry for the empty cup photo though! Blame Khairil, he drank it! Grrrrrr.)

So this is how empty it can be at times. However, you wouldn't be so lucky all the time! ;)

House @ Dempsey Hills

Well lets just say that this place is indeed a sight for sore eyes.

Welcome to House @ Dempsey Hills people!
Or some might call House @ Barracks but either way here's a short review

on their Vintage High Tea Party! :) 

It's pretty much what you can find on a typical High Tea. Except well, there's teriyaki chicken and beef burgers lying around, so for those extraordinary famished people, here's a plus point. What I enjoyed most was how friendly the staff were and kudos to those who were working on that day! We were immediately addressed upon arrival and they did not hesitate to always refill the guest's cups. ( And yes you have an option of vanilla sky tea or some ginger tea which I could not recall.)

They have a lovely looking interior and exterior garden, but in all honesty it has been my second time here yet I saw none sitting on the outside benches so I'm not really sure whether you can eat on the outside or not but nonetheless back to the main topic! Their food!

As you can see here their foods are placed in an oh so lovely manner, on cute looking plates and also some on the books! We apologize for the lack amount of picture food cause by the time we reached, all the nice looking foods probably ski-daddled to someone's tummy but all in all they still refilled the foods but take note, not all the foods would be refilled, for instance their amazing macaroons. And I could not help but to emphasize that their food was real tasty, I have to say this cause it was really that good but on a lighter note, you might get bored of the food. Haha, yes you might get bored with it. Cupcakes, cakes, pastries, skinny pizzas and some meat here and there so there isn't much of a selection but nonetheless tasty food as always. Also I would like to recommend that you book seats here before coming as it tends to get overcrowded around noon, even just the start of the High Tea, so I think it would be advisable that one should book seats before coming here.
Oh and here is a plus point, come in wearing in the 20's, 80's or anything retro and you would get a 10% discount! Talk about luck! ;D
Lastly the cost of the whole High Tea was acceptable I have to say,
costs $35++ nett per pax :)

basically we had a great time here and we don't mind coming back for another round.

Other than their vintage high tea they also have their daily brunch menu which I find it kind of pricey but it's worth every penny I reckon! Prepare at least about a $50 might I suggest, if you want a decent lunch here though.

You should try their truffle fries and Roast Chicken which was simply ravishing! Its really really an experience you wouldn't want to miss!!

So to get here is kinda of a hassle but it would be worth it.

Alight at Queenstown and take bus 105 and alight at Opp Pierce Road .

It's kind of near to the Botanic Gardens so why not take a little stroll after the walk? Cheers to the weekends ahead! :)

The Orange Thimble @ 56 Eng Hoon Street

It has been the third time we visited this place and I swear that The Orange Thimble is a cafe that does not disappoint!

So we casually had lunch there getting the usual pastries and coffees and by far I think what sets The Orange Thimble so unique is that their pastries are really ravishing( Not exaggerating okay?)
Even their plain simple butter croissant was heated up to perfection, and with the Iced Mocha by the side? I must say it was indeed a splendid moment.
We did had their Miss portobella sandwich and their BBC sandwich before as well though and it was kind of better than your average sandwich :) But we can't promise that your tastebuds would agree xD. One thing for sure is that their lunch menu is really filling.
They have desserts too as well such as cakes and tarts, but personally we haven't really tried it yet despite our third visit but nontheless its a lovely place still. :)


Great ambience, friendly staff and a rather nice place for an afternoon tea

(The alfresco area) You can also switch on the mini aircon in here though! :)

This cafe is a lovely 10 minutes walk from Outram Park MRT and a 15 minutes walk from Tiong Bahru MRT but its not much of a difference though.
The walk there might be confusing as its kind of hidden in this certain spot, but a quick mind and an alert eye will give you a solid chance to find this cafe :)
You might want to check the crowd during late lunch period though as it sort of gets kind of crowded around the 4-7pm period, other than that the place is a lovely and serene place during the morning weekdays!

Quarter To Three @ 88 Tanjong Pagar Road.

INTRODUCING TO YAAAAAAAA, Quarter To Three!
A 4 mins walk away from Tanjong Pagar Station as stated by google maps.
You might wanna be prepared to spend a longer time walking if you're going there for the first time. Teehee.

This cute little cafe is situated with lots of other cafes along the road,

 but you can't miss it because its just way to lovely. :D 

This is how it looks like from the outside. Do keep a look out for the bright signage!

There's always one friend that hints you to make him/her a sandwich....
this is a perfect place to drag them to.
